Ongame Network
Ongame is the oldest and most successful multi-player poker network. Its origins date back to 1999, when their first online poker room, pokerroom.com, opened for business. In 2001, they began offering other companies the ability to share the same software and player base, thus creating a network. Over the years Hollywood Poker, Eurobet, Coral, Interwetten, Redkings, Bwin.com, Prime Poker and many others have comprised the OnGame poker network.

The sites partnered with the Ongame network grew into and held a spot for many years as the world’s largest online poker sites. Reasons for the network’s success can most likely be attributed to first mover advantage and innovation. The idea of a poker network hosting many independent operators was virtually unheard of at the time OnGame first began offering this service. As far as innovation goes, PokerRoom.com was the first to offer a no download required version of their software which made them the only viable option for Mac and Linux poker players. Additional reasons for success included great customer support, easy deposit methods, fast hassle free cash out, and a great ability to attract new players through fresh marketing campaigns, bonuses and promotions.
OnGame Rakeback
The OnGame Network was once a leader in the Rakeback Industry. Rakeback is a service offered by many poker affiliates where players have a percentage of their paid rake returned to them each month. In a shocking move back in 2005, the OnGame network was one of the first to abandon the rakeback policy. However, many sites such as Tower Gaming still offer generous OnGame VIP programs which work similar to the old rakeback system.
BWIN Takes over OnGame
In 2006 the OnGame Network was taken over by bwin Interactive Entertainment AG. This company has a long track history in online gaming and has been listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange since March 2000. The Company provides services for its subsidiaries such as marketing, finance and administration, corporate communications, controlling and IT services. All operational activities are managed by licensed subsidiaries.
Bwin also owns their own site on this network, formerly known as Betwin.com (until 2006) at which time it was renamed bwin.com. The group operates under international and regional licenses in countries like Gibraltar, the Amerindian reserve of Kahnawake (Canada), Belize and Germany, Italy, Mexico, Croatia, Austria and the United Kingdom.
